a message from Dean CedeƱo

January 2, 2018

Parents and Students,

I hope you have enjoyed a restful Christmas break with family and friends as we look forward to beginning a new year and the second semester.

As all of you know, over the summer the Archdiocese of Miami requested that we use a new traffic pattern. The Archdiocese of Miami, upon further review, is permitting Cardinal Gibbons to return to the previously used drop-off & pick-up pattern effective immediately. This should be quite easy for parents of years past but I will outline as a refresher and for any new parents.

Parents are to enter via the EAST GATE on NE 47th ST. and proceed in a double-file line to a solid line prior to the cafeteria. The formal drop-off/pick-up area is this entire area which is roughly outlined by two striped walkways. Parents must then turn RIGHT and exit via the WEST GATE and MUST TURN LEFT towards NE 25th AVE and disperse among the side streets. The satellite image of the campus below should assist you in your understanding of the traffic route.

Student-drivers who park on the south side of campus (south of B wing) will continue to enter via the Bayview entrance. If you park on the north side of campus (north of B wing) you enter via the EAST GATE on NE 47th St. with the parents. You may NOT enter via the WEST GATE. The Tennis Court Lot will now be accessible, during mornings ONLY, via the green side gate.

Parents are once again reminded NOT to enter and drop-off or pick-up in any other lot and/or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Parents are also reminded NOT to park or wait on the lawns and driveways of our neighbors particularly down NE 27th, 28th, and 29th Avenues. Lastly, parents are reminded NOT to drop-off or pick-up off campus as this leads to your children becoming vulnerable pedestrians in and around the campus.

We understand that in the morning and afternoon rush it seems like a slow process but your support, cooperation, and patience will help keep traffic flowing and improve the safety of the campus and your children.

Thank you once again for your support and God Bless you and your families as we continue the  Joy of the Christmas Season,

Oscar Cedeño
Dean of Students
